With being a start up, we began by using laser focused interest based targeting around both the prize theme, combined with gambling/betting interests. As Bear Competitions scaled, we were able to introduce lookalike audiences from customer email databases combined with broad targeting when the Facebook pixel had been warmed up with enough data points.
Through our creative testing framework, we were able to identify that info graphic style creatives with text overlay promoting all key competition information consistently performed the strongest. This style was used mainly in single image and carousel ads.
Video was the focus on larger competitions like houses, camper vans, cars etc as we were able to highlight the prize in greater detail while also being able to retarget video viewers with retargeting ads.
Previous competition winner creatives were used to build brand and introduce new people to the community through page like ads.
